NO TOUCH LASER - EYE LASER TREATMENT PERFORMED WITHOUT TOUCHING THE EYE<\/strong><\/p>

In classical laser treatments that have been used for a long time to get rid of glasses and contact lenses, it is necessary to \"touch\" the eye. This situation can lead to anxiety for patients opting for laser surgery. The laser technique called TransPRK (No Touch Laser) eliminates this anxiety. In this method of laser treatment, there is no contact with the eye. What is the difference between the TransPRK (No Touch Laser) method and other laser treatment methods?<\/strong><\/p>

In classical treatment methods such as LASIK and intraLASIK (femtosecond) techniques, the corneal tissue of the eye is cut with a special knife or laser, followed by the treatment. In the PRK method, the front layer of the eye is eroded with alcohol and then the treatment is performed. In No Touch Laser treatment, none of these procedures are done; the treatment occurs in a single step. In this method, simply looking at a distant light source for less than 50 seconds is sufficient. This method reduces the risk of progressive corneal thinning known as ectasia, which can occur after LASIK and femtosecond (intraLASIK, i-LASIK) treatments, as well as the risk of developing high astigmatism due to surgery to almost zero. Additionally, it completely eliminates the risk of retinal tears caused by the mandatory suction (vacuum) ring applied during LASIK and femtosecond methods.<\/p>

Which patients can this method be applied to?<\/strong><\/p>

It can be applied to myopic, hyperopic, and astigmatic patients with suitable eye structure. That is, patients with distance and near vision problems can be candidates for this treatment. In particular, for cases where the cornea is thin and the corneal surface is steeper than normal, No Touch Laser treatment may be the only solution.<\/p>

How is the procedure performed?<\/strong><\/p>

The No Touch Laser treatment is performed with the application of only anesthetic drops, and the patient feels no pain during the procedure. There is no contact with the eye; treatment is applied directly to the eye using the laser beams emitted from the device. After treatment, the eyes do not need to be closed, and the patient can go home with both eyes open. The procedure can be performed on both eyes in the same treatment session. After going home, the patient may experience symptoms such as a feeling of burning, redness, sensitivity to light, and blurry vision for small texts on the television for 36 hours. On the fourth day after treatment, the patient can begin tasks such as working on a computer and driving a car.<\/p>

How is the procedure performed for night vision problems?<\/strong><\/p>

In the wavefront application, commonly known as “eagle eye,” light scatter and deviations inside the eye are measured, and laser treatment is adjusted accordingly. When these deviations, which cannot be corrected even with glasses or lenses, are corrected using the wavefront technique, the treatment is tailored to the individual’s eye structure. As a result, the patient’s night vision improves, and issues such as glare from oncoming car headlights disappear.<\/p>

Why No Touch Laser?<\/strong><\/p>

  1. Treatment is performed without contact with the eye.<\/li>
  2. Treatment is completed in seconds.<\/li>
  3. No membrane is lifted from the eye, no scratches are made, and no parts are removed from the eye.<\/li>
  4. The epithelium covering the eye is not cleaned with alcohol, and epithelial scraping is not performed.<\/li>
  5. There is no pain during the treatment.<\/li>
  6. Both eyes are treated in the same session.<\/li>
  7. Eyes do not need to be closed after treatment.<\/li>
  8. Can be applied to patients with thin corneas.<\/li>
  9. The risk of ectasia is nearly zero.<\/li>
  10. The risk of retinal tears is zero.<\/li>
  11. Problems such as membrane wrinkles and cell accumulation under the membrane do not occur.<\/li>
